Installation Instructions
-
Ensure that all important data on the target system is backed up to external media (see the CAUTION! section above).
-
Insert the Rivendell Broadcast Appliance installation CD into the CD-ROM drive and power-cycle the system.
-
When the CentOS-5 boot screen appears, simply press the ENTER key.
-
After a minute or so, the system will display the main CentOS start installation screen. Click the Next button to begin the installation.
-
The system will now display the disc partitioning screen. For a standard Rivendell workstation, simply click the Next button to use the standard partition layout (WARNING: the standard layout will delete all existing data from the hard drive!). To have an opportunity to review and modify the partition layout before making any changes, check the “Review and modify partitioning layout” box first.
-
Accept the recommended bootloader configuration by clicking Next.
-
The system will then ask for your time zone. Select the appropriate value and click Next.
-
The next screen will ask that a “Root Password” be set. This password will be needed to gain access for performing configuration and other administrative actions on the machine, so be sure to remember the value set here!
-
The software selection screen is displayed next. Simply click Next to install a standard Rivendell workstation.
-
The summary screen will then be displayed. Click Next to begin the actual installation process.
-
When the installation is complete, a screen will be displayed asking that the installation CD be removed. After doing so, click the Reboot button.
-
After rebooting, double-click the First Steps icon on the desktop for pointers to information about configuring and using your new Rivendell system.
